Played the Fool

©Trey Forbes

Working on what I could become
trying to fit in where I belong
No one ever said that life was free
I lost my head and lost my world
lost my feelings and lost my girl
you know that it means that much to me
Pitched a fit and caused a fight
Now I sleep in jail at night
I wish my lover would come and comfort me
But now she’s in a court room chair
with her mother and sister there
somethings happening I know what it means

I look to the sky at night
I get the feeling that something ain’t right
I nearly lost the life you gave to me
Took for granted the things you said
re arranged them in my head
Tell me Jesus How long will it be

‘Cause I will never work this out
‘till you tell me what life’s about
You know I nearly lost eternity
Came within an inch of my life
now they call me Satan’s wife
that’s not an easy thing to be
But I’m gonna ditch that fool
and learn to reckon with the golden rule
Divorce is only half free
I want his money and his car
I want to play his old guitar
but get that fool away from me

I look to the sky at night
I get the feeling that something ain’t right
I nearly lost the life you gave to me
Took for granted the things you said
re arranged them in my head
Tell me Jesus How long will it be
You are the love of my life
and you got a real cool wife
will you come and help me with my plea?
I know the kind you are
I didn’t mean to go that far
Life ain’t always what you see
